At a time when the interpretation tends to become standardized, Gaëtane Prouvost presents himself as heir to the great currents of classical violin. Trained in Paris by Roland Charmy and Jean Hubeau, she joined Ivan Galamian at the Juilliard School as many contemporary virtuosos. But his true master will be Zino Francescatti, one of the great violinists of the previous century and heir to the technique of Paganini. She has dedicated a biography (Ed de Harmattan and a CD bringing together his original compositions and transcriptions (Ed the Fingerprint).

Endowed with a solid technique and a rare sonority, which constitute the hallmark of the pagan tradition, the game of GAETANE PROUVOST lends itself as well to the lightness of the baroque repertoire as to the generosity of the great romantics.

Dedicated to numerous contemporary works: Rémi Goussseau's Concerto, Michel Rateau's Concerto, Sonata and Variations by Olivier Greif, she is frequently invited by Ensemble Intercontemporain where she plays under the direction of Kent Nagano, Gary Bertini and Pierre Boulez. Olivier Messiaen, she is the interpreter of the Quatuor for the End of Time during its creation in the USSR

Together with the Prague Orchestra Camerata Bohemiana and under her direction, she created in 2015 the concerto that Rémi Gousseau dedicated to her.​

 

Visiting professor of the Academy and the Conservatory of Prague, she gives regularly masters classes, especially on French music.​

 

Passionate about chamber music, she partners with the best musicians as well as Abdel Rahman el Bacha, Emmanuelle Bertrand, Pascal Amoyel, Laurent Cabasso, Emmanuel Ceysson, Valerie Aimard, Jean Paul Sevilla, Damien Lehman, Jun Kanno, the Enesco Quartet, Yovan Markovitch ...​

 

Each of his records has been critically acclaimed, so Prokofiev's sonatas for violin and piano with Abdel Rahman El Bacha have received the best awards from Gramophone magazine and the Shock of the World of Music.

She recorded with Laurent Cabasso the complete chamber music of Gabriel Pierné as well as the work of Louise Farrenc, two cds awarded by the specialized press.

With Marie-Christine Barrault, Gaëtane Prouvost has put together a Literature and Music show entitled VOL DE NUIT, based on texts by Antoine de Saint Exupery.​

 

Exploring all directories Gaëtane Prouvost teamed up with Misha and Anne Makarenko for a violin and balalaika piano show entitled "Les Tziganeries"

His show Impressions of Music Hall for violin and piano with clown accompaniment was a great success.

With the duo Vents d'Est composed of a violin and a cymbalum, she contributes in the company of Cyril Dupuy the radiance of a repertoire ranging from Brahms, Bartok, Ravel to contemporary works.A piece was commissioned to the composer Pierre-Alain Braye Weppe and will be created in 2017.
